A United States of America flag was proudly raised at our township building for the first time at 8:30 am on November 23, 2016, thanks to the combined efforts and generous donations of a group of patriotic residents.
The US Flag was given and presented by US Representative Ryan Costello and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Flag was donated and presented by State Representative Becky Corbin and State Senator John Rafferty. Both flags were flown over their respective capitols. The Boy Scout Troop 105 attached and raised the flags and OJR student, and West Vincent resident Belle Holderness sang the National Anthem.
One month prior to that day, the West Vincent Road Crew Excavated a 4’x5’x5′ hole and installed approximately 1 foot of crushed stone in the bottom. Supervisor Mike Schneider, Greg Hudome and Barry Dilibero formed over 12,000 pounds of concrete for the flagpole base. After the concrete cured for 3 weeks, the pole was set with the help of Tim Kanavy of Trevdan Building Supply, who generously donated a boom truck and his expertise at boom operation to lift the 35 foot flagpole into place.
This project valued at $6500 was made possible almost entirely through donations made by Mike Schneider, Barry DiLibero and Teri DiLibero. Labor was supplied by Mike Schneider, Greg Hudome, Brian Curry, Art Ewell, Tim Kanavy and Barry DiLibero. With the exception of the road crew services and one bucket of stone, the entire project used no taxpayer dollars.
