Philadelphia Electric Company has installed and maintains warning sirens in the area ten miles in diameter around the Limerick Nuclear Power Station. West Vincent Township falls into that area; residents are therefore treated to a sounding of the alarms on the first Monday of each month at approximately 2:00 p.m. In the event of an actual emergency of any sort (Limerick, pipeline rupture, oil spill on a highway – any event that warrants public attention), sirens will be activated to warn us that we should tune to local radio stations WCAU-AM 1210, WCOJ-AM 1420,or WYIS-AM 690 to receive details and instructions.
