Frog Alert! Amphibian Crossing!
By sunset, it should be in the mid-50's with light rain. The ground has thawed enough that frogs and salamanders hibernating underground in the woods may begin to stir and hop/crawl to their wetland mating grounds.

About the Event
Spring was here yesterday. By sunset today, it should be in the mid-50's with light rain. The ground has thawed enough that frogs and salamanders hibernating underground in the woods may begin to stir and hop/crawl to their wetland mating grounds.
If you are interested in joining the 'movement', email Carys Egan ( carys.levin@gmail.com ). She will be in touch to confirm by 5 PM tonight if a "Code Green" Amphibian Patrol is definitely being called.
This quirky and special environmental stewardship activity sponsored by the WVT Environmental Advisory Council, is a wonderful opportunity for parents to teach children about the amphibian life cycle, help frogs cross the road safely, and provide the only opportunity to see the little Spring Peeper who makes the big noise.
* WVT Police will be putting road closure barriers at Hollow Rd. by the intersection with Horsetrail and by the "S" curve bridge. Only immediate locals should be driving along Hollow Rd. between 6:30 and 9:30 PM.
* Park on the side of Hollow Rd. after turning off from Horseshoe Trail OR before the "S" curve bridge on Hollow Rd. Please do not drive the length of Hollow Rd. to park at the other end. Respect the road barriers.
* Dress for cold, wet weather. Bring a *flashlight and plastic bucket or tupperware container if you need to help a frog cross the road. Do not handle amphibians. Please leave dogs at home.
A limited number of reflective vests are also available for volunteers. Vests will be distributed at the intersection of Hollow Rd. and Horseshoe Trail. Look for the police car or Carys' red Audi wagon.
* Please keep a tally of the critters you spot. Email Carys afterward with your count.
