Volunteers Needed for the Chester Springs Repair Cafe!
What is a Repair Cafe? It is a community-based meeting place about repairing things (clothes, small electrical appliances, bicycles, toys and the like) with the overarching goal to reduce waste sent to landfills. To learn more about the Repair Cafe concept visit: www.repaircafe.org/en/about
The Chester Springs Repair Cafe, in partnership with the Henrietta Hankin Branch of the Chester County Library, is looking for volunteers to serve as Repair Coaches in the following areas:
• Clothing/textiles
• Knife/garden tool sharpening
• Jewelry
• Furniture/wooden objects
• Bicycles
• Small electrical appliances
• Computers/electronics
The Repair Coaches collaborate with visitors that bring broken things from their home. Together (Repair Coach and visitor) they start making repairs in the Repair Cafe.
The Chester Springs Repair Cafe is also looking for Repair Coordinators to serve as a point of contact for both Repair Coaches and visitors on the day of a Repair Cafe event.
The Chester Springs Repair Cafe is set to meet the first Saturday of every other month starting October 1, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. thru 2:00 p.m. at the Henrietta Hankin Branch of the Chester County Library, 215 Windgate Drive, Chester Springs, PA 19425.
Separately, the Chester Springs Repair Cafe is looking for volunteers to develop its website and to help with outreach and communications.
As a community-based event, everyone is a volunteer and there is no charge to visitors (other than for parts).
Upcoming repair days (first Saturday of every other month)
- Saturday, Dec 3; Saturday, Feb 4, Saturday Apr 4
