Jim Wylie is a longtime champion of environmental causes with a focus on clean renewable energy. He is currently engaged in assisting PA communities transition from fossil fuels, resulting in 45 communities in the Commonwealth setting formal goals for transitioning to 100% clean renewable energy.

As these communities step up to the sizable task of crafting Clean Energy Transition Plans and executing them, many are feeling the need to pivot to a different kind of advocacy and support structure. Such a structure would allow individual municipalities to own their priorities and community engagement messaging, while simultaneously participating in a supportive network of other boroughs/townships that are facing the same challenges – sharing success stories and barriers, sample policies, plans, and ongoing projects. And most importantly, highlighting available resources for doing effective community engagement to encourage all of us to make informed and sustainable decisions regarding the energy we purchase every day. The decisions we make today will have significant impacts to our community, county, state, nation, and planet for years to come.

Michael Schneller has worked with PECO’s energy reduction programs for the last five years. He is a Building Performance Institute-certified senior energy auditor and market outreach specialist. Mike is also a real estate broker and has bought and sold energy efficient properties with his clients in New York and Pennsylvania. He understands the many benefits of energy efficiency and home performance for the homeowner.

As an auditor, Mike has helped customers improve the health, safety, and comfort of their homes while saving money and preserving our environment.

Mike works closely with PECO program directors and marketing managers to reduce energy usage in our region. By changing how we use energy, he hopes to save our planet… one house at a time.
