Weatherstone Development paving, Kimberton Road Bridge repairs, as well as Kimberton Road, Shady Lane, Hilltop Road, and Sheeder Mill Road paving will commence in the coming months, with expected completion by Labor Day.
The Parks & Recreation Commission and the Administration prepared a map illustrating the existing trail system. A public meeting was held in March, which helped identify potential existing trails to be researched and possible future trail locations. The trail plan will be updated, and a second public meeting will be scheduled before June.
Much progress has taken place at Opalanie Park. The Board reached an agreement with the demolition work contractor at Opalanie Park to settle the restoration of the demolition area, which is the last part of the process required to close out the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit with the contractor. The contractors will then remove the fence and erosion socks. The Parks & Recreation Committee then will begin trailblazing the remaining trails to be constructed. The signs for locations on the trails and historical interpretation will be erected.
The Township received a grant in the amount of $250,000 from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to support the development of Opalanie Park. The Administration, Township Engineer, and Parks & Recreation Committee will begin to design the improvements once the grant agreement and contract are executed.
The Board authorized two grant applications, each in the amount of $250,000, one to Chester County and one to the PA Department of Community and Economic Development to support the additional development of Opalanie Park.
Anticipated improvements to be funded from these grants include a handicapped-accessible fishing pier, a trail around the pond, a tot lot, a pavilion, as well as other stormwater management improvements, such as rain gardens.
Board of Supervisor meetings are held every 1st Monday (workshop, if needed) and 3rd Monday (regular meeting) of the month in the Township Meeting Room at 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
